Elephant Man’s name was Joseph Merrick. He had an ugly face and body. For example, on page 4, chapter 1, ‘ I see horrible, ugly thing every day. But this creature, this thing, was the worst of all. ’ He looked like elephant’s face. He was very slow, because his legs were big on page 4~5, chapter 1 , ‘His legs were very big and fat, and he had a bad back.’ He had only a mother in his family, but she went missing. He had a good manners, and deep down he was quite nice. For example on page 18~20, chapter 4, ‘I was very angry with the nurse, and went to see Merrick. He was not happy about it, but he was not very angry. I think he felt sorry for the girl.’ This sentence shows an example of how is Merrick worried about others.
I though Merrick was an incapable man because he was unable to do without people. For example on page 29, Cheapter 6, ‘He was more like a child than a man. He could not go out of the hospital by himself.’ He had to do anything by hinself, even if he was ugly. Also, I though Merrick was mentally immature because he could not go out of the hospital by himself and he though that the theater acts were real in the theatre. For example on page 29 and 30, Chapter 6, ‘He thought and played like a child. ’ I thoght Dr. Frederick Treves was a very kind person because he changed Merrick’s life and people’s view about Merrick. People liked to visit him. For example, on page 24, chapter 5, ‘A lot of important ladies and gentlemen visited him.’
Last summer vacation, I went to Geojedo Island with my friend. When we arrived Geojedo Island, we rented a car because it was very large. We went Jangseungpo beach, Oedo-Botania, and Hill of the Wind in Geojedo Island. Jangseungpo beach was crowded with fisherman and there were many seafood restaurants. We ate set menu with marinated crab at a famous restaurant. That was very delicious. After eating marinated crab, we got aboard a cruise ship toward Oedo-Botania. Oedo-Botania was decorated by the hand of man. I thought that Oedo was the best beautiful island all over the world. Last, I drove a car towad Hill of the ind. There was introduced broadcasting many times before. On the Hill of the Wind, I was very happy because I could see the most beautiful scenery. I can’t forget the scenery out of my mind until now. I would really like to visit Geojedo Island again, if I get the chance. I recommend to visit Geojedo Island very much !!
